Kalokairi Subakti [2001] is a multi-media artist originally from Dhurag Country/Western Sydney, Australia.
As a multi-media artist, their work comes in many forms however most commonly their art exists in the realm of oils, acrylics, comics, 2D/3D animation, and performance. Themes that frequently appear in their work include theology, myth, and folklore, as well as commentary on the sociological – drawing on their experience as a Queer Disabled Person of Colour.
Their work most recently exhibited at the Mount Stromlo Observatory as part of the ACT’s Enlighten Festival (2025), and have previously produced, written, and performed original musicals that have been featured in the ABC (Lost in Transit – Tuggeranong Art Centre, 2021).
As of November 2025, they will be working under the direction of Nyoman Arcana to learn Kamasan Painting in the Village of Kamasan, Bali Indonesia as an apprentice before their final year grad show project for their Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Australian National University. They have previously completed a diploma in 3D Animation and Modelling at AIE and a Bachelor of Social Science at Western Sydney University.
When not actively artmaking they spend their time working on the board of directors for SpringOut – Canberra’s Pride Festival and as a member of the steering committee for RainbowMob – a charity that provides emergency housing for Queer Indigenous youth.
